Privacy Policy
The Creator Vocabulary (“TCV”, “we”, “us”). Effective October 11, 2026.
This policy explains what information The Creator Vocabulary collects, why, and the choices you have. We built TCV to be a creative reference and companion — not an advertising product. We do not sell your data, we do not use third‑party advertising trackers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password, handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never store your password in plain text.
- Date of birth. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account, to confirm you are old enough to use TCV and so CC can apply extra safeguards for anyone under 18. It is not shown on your profile and is not used for advertising.
- Content you create. Terms you save, collections you create, and personal notes you attach to terms, so we can sync them to your account across your devices.
- Profile details. If you choose to add them, we store a display name, the kind of creative work you do (for example “Videographer”), and a profile picture. These are optional and you can change them at any time in the app. Your profile picture is stored at a web address that is not listed anywhere, but anyone who has that address can view the image, so don’t upload a picture you want to keep private.
- Conversations with CC. CC is the AI creative companion in TCV. When you send CC a message, we store your message and CC’s reply on our servers, linked to your account, so your conversations are there when you come back. We also keep a daily count of how many messages you send so we can apply usage limits. You can delete any conversation in the app, which removes it and its messages from our servers.
- Reports. If you report one of CC’s answers, we keep a copy of that answer, the question that led to it, and the reason you chose, so we can review it. A report is kept even if you later delete the conversation.
- Promotional codes. If you redeem a promotional code, we record which code you used, when, the date your complimentary access ends, your device type, and a randomly generated device identifier, so a code can’t be redeemed more times than intended.
- Subscription status. TCV Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple, not TCV, handles your payment details — we never see or store your card information. Through our subscription provider (RevenueCat) we receive and store your entitlement status (whether Pro is active, the plan type, and renewal/expiration dates) linked to your account so we can unlock Pro features.
- Anonymous product analytics. To understand how the app is used and improve it, we record basic, non‑advertising events such as app opens, searches performed (including search terms, so we can find gaps in our library), terms viewed, saves, collections created, category usage, paywall views, successful upgrades, promotional code screens, and how many CC answers were generated and how long they were. Analytics events never contain the text of your conversations with CC. These events are associated with a randomly generated device identifier and, if you are signed in, your account id — not with your name, contacts, precise location, or any advertising identifier.
- Technical data. Like any internet service, our servers transiently process information such as your IP address and app version to deliver and secure the service.
What we do NOT collect
- No advertising identifiers and no third‑party ad SDKs.
- No precise or background location.
- No access to your contacts, microphone, or camera. We access your photo library only when you choose a profile picture, and only the single image you pick.
- No push notification tokens. Daily word notifications are scheduled on your device and never pass through our servers.
- We do not use your conversations with CC for advertising, and we do not sell them.
- No cross‑app or cross‑site tracking. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
How we use information
- To provide the app: authenticate you, and sync your saved terms, collections, and notes.
- To run CC: generate answers, keep your conversation history, and apply fair‑use limits.
- To show your profile inside the app.
- To manage TCV Pro subscriptions and unlock Pro features.
- To improve TCV using aggregate analytics (e.g. which terms are searched most, and which searches return nothing so we can add missing terminology).
- To keep the service secure and respond to support requests.
CC and AI processing
CC’s answers are generated by a large language model provided by Anthropic. To answer you, we send Anthropic the text of your message, the earlier messages in that conversation, and, when relevant, the name of the TCV entry you were just reading. We do not send Anthropic your name, email address, or account id.
Anthropic processes this text to generate the reply. By default, Anthropic does not use content sent through its commercial API to train its models.
Answers are generated by AI and can be wrong. Treat them as guidance from a knowledgeable assistant, not as professional, safety, legal, or financial advice, and check anything that matters before you rely on it on a job.
Please don’t put sensitive personal information — yours or anyone else’s — into a conversation with CC.
For accounts belonging to someone under 18, CC runs with additional safety instructions that keep its answers age‑appropriate and put physical safety and privacy first. Anyone can report an answer from CC using the Report button under it; we review every report.
Service providers
We share the minimum necessary data with providers that operate the app on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and hosting.
- Apple — App Store payments and in‑app purchases.
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management.
- Anthropic — generates CC’s answers from the conversation text described above.
- Vercel — hosts this website.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms and only to provide their services to us.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Conversations with CC are kept until you delete them or delete your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from You → Delete Account inside the app. Deleting your account removes your profile details and profile picture, date of birth, saved terms, collections, notes, conversations with CC, usage counts, promotional redemption records, and entitlement records. Reports you submitted are kept without your account attached. Analytics events are kept with your account id removed, so they are no longer tied to you. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls that restrict each user’s content to their own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Age requirement, teens, and parents
You must be 13 or older to create an account or use CC. We ask for a date of birth at sign‑up and do not allow anyone under 13 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete the account and its data. TCV follows the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not offering accounts to children under 13.
If you are 13 to 17, use TCV with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. Teen accounts get additional CC safeguards, and we never show advertising to anyone.
Parents and guardians: if you believe your child under 13 has an account, or you want to review or delete your teen’s account and data, email support@thecreatorvocabulary.com and we will help.
Your rights
You can access and update your account information in the app, and you can delete your account and associated data at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
